Knight Rider has maintained a dedicated fan base since it first aired in 1982. From replica car builders to convention organizers, the Knight Rider fandom remains active decades after the original series ended.
KnightCon (UK)
The premier Knight Rider fan convention was KnightCon, held annually in the UK from approximately 2007 to 2013.
Event Details
- Location: Castleford, Yorkshire, England (Xscape complex)
- Years Active: 2007-2013
- Format: Free-to-enter main event with optional VIP packages

KnightCon offered:
- KITT replica car displays (largest collection in the UK)
- Memorabilia and props from the show
- Raffles and auctions
- Screen-used prop displays

Notable Guests

- Michael Scheffe (KITT operator)
- Dirk Benedict (Battlestar Galactica, A-Team)
End of KnightCon
The 2013 KnightCon was announced as the final event. Organizers cited concerns about Universal's licensing policies—they were unable to:
- Advertise as a "Knight Rider" event
- Produce Knight Rider merchandise
- Display photo graphics and imagery due to copyright concerns
The event was rebranded as "Star Cars & Heroes" in subsequent years, though the Knight Rider focus was significantly reduced.
Knight Rider Archives
The most comprehensive fan resource is Knight Rider Archives (knightriderarchives.com), maintained by Paul Nuthall since around 2008. The site features:
- Detailed episode guides for all 90 episodes
- Season-by-season breakdowns
- Guest star information
- Production notes
- News and updates
- Convention coverage
KITT Replica Community
A passionate community of car enthusiasts has built KITT replicas based on the Knight Rider Trans Am. These range from:
- Street-legal Trans Ams with dashboard modifications
- Full screen-accurate replicas with working features
- Show cars that tour conventions
Notable collectors include the Knight Rider Historians, who own several screen-used KITTs, the original Semi truck and trailer from the show, and even David Hasselhoff's personal Trans Am (which they recently sold for $39,995).
Online Communities
- Knight Rider Online (knightrideronline.com) — Long-running forum and fan community
- Various Facebook groups dedicated to the series
- Reddit communities (r/knightrider)
- YouTube channels dedicated to episode reviews and KITT technology explainers
Fan Legacy
What makes Knight Rider fandom unique is the longevity—fans who watched as children in the 1980s are now adults with disposable income who can afford to build replicas, attend conventions, and collect memorabilia. The 2025 film announcement (Cobra Kai creators attached to Universal project) has generated renewed interest in the franchise.
