Plot Summary

Michael investigates illegal toxic waste dumping by a businessman known as "Acid" John Birock (Ramon Bieri). The environmental polluter has been secretly dumping chemicals that are killing wildlife and contaminating groundwater. During a nighttime raid on Birock's chemical dump, KITT is captured by a massive custom truck—the "Junk Yard Dog"—and dropped into a pit of corrosive acid.

The damage is catastrophic. KITT's molecular bonded shell is compromised, his circuits are fried, and only the chassis remains. Bonnie admits she may not be able to repair him, especially without the Foundation's full facilities. Devon makes the decision to call in the original design team: Dr. Von Voorman, Dr. Breland, and Dr. Numata—the scientists who originally built KITT under Wilton Knight.

The original team rebuilds KITT from scratch, but there's a problem: the car has lost his confidence. He's hesitant, uncertain, and afraid. In a moving sequence, Michael helps KITT work through his fears, telling him: "You're the best there is. You're KITT." Together, they confront "Acid" John Birock one final time—KITT regaining his nerve to save the day.
